AFRICAST HOST CITY (ABUJA)
Abuja is Nigeria’s Capital City. It sits in the centre of the vast country as well as the Federal Capital Territory, FCT. Abuja is a modern, planned city designed to meet the needs of the seat of the government of the most populous nation in Africa. The 2006 census figures show that Abuja has a population of 778,567 people.
The three arms zone, made up of the Presidential Complex, the Supreme Court and the National Assembly sprawls to the south of Aso Rock, a 400-meters monolith, which defines the Geography of Abuja. Indeed, the presidential Complex is fondly referred to as Aso Rock Villa.
WEATHER AND CLIMATE
Abuja experiences three weather conditions annually. It could be really warm, and humid, during the rainy season and blistering when it’s dry season. In between these two seasons is the harmattan which could feature dust haze with intensified coldness and dryness.
The temperature of Abuja runs between 28-40 degrees at daytime depending on the season of the year and 12-23 degrees at night time.
VEGETATION
The city of Abuja falls within the Guinean forest-Savanna Mosaic Zone of the West African sub-region. However, patches of rain forest occur in the Gwagwa plains of the city, especially to the South and South-eastern parts.
SKYLINE
The Abuja Skyline is made up of the mostly mid-range and a few tall buildings with modern architectural design which reflects a new and modern city. In future, Skyscrapers such as the Millennium Tower, which is currently under construction, will adorn the beautiful city. This tower, which is part of the huge cultural development complex called the Nigeria National Complex, including the Nigerian cultural centre, are being designed by the Italian architect, Manfredi Nicoletti.

AIRPORT: The Nnamdi Azikwe International airport is the main airport serving Abuja and its surrounding capital region. The airport has both International and Domestic terminals. Major international airlines which come to Abuja include British airways, Lufthansa airline, Royal Dutch airline (KLM) Delta airlines, Ethiopian airline, Kenyan airline and Arik Airline.
TRANSPORTATION
There are various kinds of cabs and taxis at the International airport. Though not metered, the registered cabs have standard airport charges, but are also negotiable. Apart from the airport shuttle route, the cabs may also take you around the city and its environs on request. Again, the charges are negotiable.
The hotels can also arrange buses to pick you up at the airport.
RECREATION Abuja offers a variety of places for recreation. Worthy of note is the millennium park, the Silverbird Entertainment Centre, the Cedi Plaza, wonderlands, The Dome and so on. There are also a number of parks and gardens where one can stroll and watch the sun set lazily behind the horizon.
